Currentsea

Currentsea is an intuitive, easy to use and accessible cryptocurrency exchange platform that allows for user personalisation.

ROLE

UX/UI Designer, UX Researcher

CLIENT

Google UX Course Project

PROJECT TYPE

UX/UI Design Training

User Persona

I created a user persona based on secondary research, using Google to search for statistics on user demography for cryptocurrency apps to identify the typical user and what their needs and frustrations might be.

Competitor Audit

Understanding the competitive landscape. I conducted secondary research in aggregating the most common pain points voiced by users online as well as listing the best features of these services,, and primary research in using these platforms to assess usability.

The competitors are: Coinbase, Binance and Crypto.com

Information Architecture

I then mapped out what the information architecture could look like, illustrating the possible user flows and features available.

Prototyping and Usability Testing

I turned the above wireframes into a prototype, and kindly asked five users from a UX research Discord server if they would test it for me.

I conducted this moderated usability study as primary research to identify any possible pain points or missing features from the project before proceeding with higher fidelity mockups.

Low-Fidelity Prototype

Below, the low fidelity prototype. You can access it here.

High-Fidelity Design

I created brand guidelines for Currentsea, using a sticker sheet with fonts, common elements, colours and components to make the design process more efficient.

After that came the mockups, implementing insights gained from the usability studies. I connected these to make a high-fidelity prototype, which you can view here.

Priority 3: Some buttons and navigation elements are oddly placed, adjust information architecture

Usability Test Insights

Priority 1: Lack of security options and depth to login/account creation process

Priority 2: UI Clutter, not making use of white space was causing navigation issues

Wireframing

I hoped to capture the initial flow of the design, figuring out what features would be essential for the best possible user experience.

It was essential that the design was responsive, as some users will trade on the go, and others will trade at home with many desktop monitors.

How Might We...

How might we make the cryptocurrency exchange process easier to navigate and feel more secure and transparent for all traders?
